WORK HISTORY

2004 - Present  Program Manager, Excell Data/Compucom contracted to the Microsoft     Corporation, Redmond, WA

  • Hired on to the PC Aces team at Microsoft to do business development, program management and subject matter expert to demonstrate viability of new product.

  • Conducted site visits with potential customers and partners to solicit input on product features, marketing approaches, and deployment.

  • Drafted functional specifications and design documents.

  • Designed and implemented customer market surveys.

2001 – 2004      Executive Producer/Project Manager, Army Modeling and Simulation Project, Naval Postgraduate School, CA                                                     

General Duties:

  • Specifically selected by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army utilizing my skills as an Army Simulations Officer to design and produce two PC games entitled America’s Army: Operations and America’s Army: Soldiers.

  • Planned, prepared and executed presentations, media interviews, demonstrations and trade shows exhibits of product.

  • Responsible for cost, schedule and performance with an annual budget of seven million dollars. 

  • Directed quality assurance on and off site testing labs and contractors.

  • Directed user interface design for both the product and its web page.

  • Directed and designed usability questions and studies.  Directed market surveys.

  • Developed, managed and represented partners before, during and after product completion.  Successfully integrated partner and sponsor requirements with the desires of the consumer achieving instant success, over 2.5 million registered players in 18 months.  Consistently listed in GameSpy as one of the top five most played multiplayer games.

America’s Army: Operations:

  • A First Person Shooter with single and multiplayer content.  Single player content revolves around training various skills, e.g. medical and land navigation training.  Multiplayer content is focused on utilization of learned skills on-line as part of a team.

  • Delivered on schedule and within budget.

  • Designed content and produced an award winning multi-player on-line PC game entitled America’s Army: Operations.  Earned several E3 2002 awards, an 88% in PC Gamer, and 4.5 stars from Computer Gaming World.

  • With the project from concept to delivery.  Managed initial and subsequent product launches. Produced and assisted in design of eight public game releases and one Army internal training release.

America’s Army: Soldiers:

  • A 2D story-driven single player high-risk research based game using cinematic scenes and photographs to demonstrate life as a soldier. 

  • Project was a research success yielding several publications, and a foundation for other defense simulations.

  • Deliverables were not meeting deadlines.  Working with the developer and sponsor new timelines and gameplay designs were initiated, but, regrettably, despite several timeline iterations, the project had to be cancelled.

2000 – 2003      Adjunct Professor, Oregon Institute of Technology, Fort Lewis, WA    

  • Developed live classroom and on-line curriculum for senior level/advance courses leading to a BS in Information Technology. 

  • Specific courses: Project Management, Process Improvement, and Business Research Methods.

2000 – 2001      Executive Officer and Chief of Integration for the Army Transformation Program, Fort Lewis, WA                                                               

  • Guided a directorate consisting of 15 officers and technicians responsible for the transformation of organizations into a new force structure designed around a digital network. 

  • Designed new force structures, modified current organizations to maximize potential based on new capabilities, and defend/reduced organizational  structures

  • Managed 25 modernization projects involving a myriad of vendors.

  • Coordinated and integrated of over 1000 items into five distinct organizations. 

  • Researched, developed and managed multiple programs and projects.

1998 – 2000      Operations and Executive Officer, Combat Maneuver Training Center, Hohenfels, Germany      

  • As a Lieutenant Colonel I developed and implemented training programs for NATO member forces in live, virtual, and constructive environments. 

  • Designed and implemented the creation of three new 250 man organizations.

  • Planned, prepared, and presented briefings to foreign and domestic general officers and political leaders, some in a foreign tongue. 

  • Drafted and published technical literature still in use.

  • Developed technical requirements, contracted and managed programs in values of over $3.7 million. 

  • Primary contracting officer for all operational activities at Europe’s largest training facility.

1996 – 1998      Squadron Commander and Executive Officer, Schofield Barracks, HI

  • Selected out of 30 peers, as a Major, to lead and train an organization of 250 diverse personnel, 68 combat and support vehicles, 17 helicopters and property valued in excess of $73,000,000. 

  • Transitioned unit to a new force structure on time and in budget.

  • Recognized for planning and executing the finest air and ground maintenance program in the division.

  • Deployed, sustained and conducted tactical operations in a third world nation, an austere environment, with no degradation to capability and readiness.

  • Recognized for accomplishing mission requirements on time and within fiscal budget.

1979 – 1995      Various Command and Staff Assignments, Europe and the United States           

  • Myriad of assignments ranging from platoon leader, key staff officer and company commander. 

  • Consistently promoted on time, from Lieutenant to Major, and selected to attend competitive professional development schools.

  • Responsible for developing and supervising budgets, property accountability, training programs (individual and organizational) in constructive and computer assisted environments, preparing and presenting instruction, and author of several technical documents.

  • Human Resource director for an organization of over 2,500 soldiers and civilian employees.  Responsible for all personnel actions, creation and justification of positions and organizational structure.

  • Responsible for and successfully accomplished the scheduling of several concurrent tasks, under arduous conditions at times.

  • Initially supervised 30 soldiers and consistently charged with greater responsibility.  By 1995 I supervised the training and development of 120 soldiers.
